Many other reviewers have a long history with the Mystic vibrator line and mourned the loss of the discontinuation of the original Mystic Wand Rechargeable back in 2014. This was my first trip into the world of Mystic Wands… and I don’t think I’ll be returning.

The Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable is a black wand style vibrator with nice, soft-touch silicone and ABS plastic. It has a broader head, which puts it into the wand category, and the body is curved to be more ergonomic during use, as opposed to it’s discontinued predecessor which had a straight handle.

It’s clear that there was a lot of thought put into the shape of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable, and to an extent, it paid off. I think that this was geared towards the same market as the Tantus Rumble, which is another well-designed wand(ish) style vibrator meant to be ergonomic and extremely light to be easy to use and to help avoid muscle or joint fatigue. It also has three functions buttons at different places the toy that allow you to change the functions (which cycle through speeds and patterns) so the buttons are accessible no matter how you’re holding it—a fantastic idea but I somehow found myself hitting them by accident.  On the front of the toy is the on/off button and the function buttons are located next to the on/off button, on the back side of the wand, and on the very end of the handle on the back.

The neck of the toy is the most flexible I’ve seen on a wand vibrator. Between the ergonomic shape and the flexible neck will allow you to more comfortably reach the right spot. Despite those features, the handle of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is quite short and might not be suitable for anyone who typically needs a longer handle on their toys.

One feature I loved is about the Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable is that it’s plug-and-play, meaning you can use it whether it’s plugged in or not. This is a huge victory for those like me who are constantly forgetting to charge their toys before the fun times start.

Because toy companies all insist on being unique, the Mystic Wand has a proprietary charger, which has inspired me to finally buy a labeler because I keep forgetting which charger goes to which vibrator (#sexbloggerproblems). The one side of the charger looks like a small AC adapter and the other is a USB. The AC adapter goes into the bottom back of the toy, which is indicated by an almost imperceivable bullseye symbol in the silicone. It’s similar to the way the Jopen Vr3 charger works, however unlike the Vr3 I found it to be really challenging to plug this toy in, and every time I do I feel like I’m going to break it1. After having to explain to another sex blogger friend how to charge this toy, I feel it’s safe to say it’s probably not going to be obvious to everyone how to charge it just by looking at it.

Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review - Packing Close Up - Hedonish.comVibrations & Noise:

My clit knows what it likes, and it LOVES strong vibrations… and the vibrations of the Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable felt completely unsubstantial to me. More objectively, given the range of vibrators I’ve had the opportunity to play with, I would give the Mystic Wand Rechargeable highest setting a 1-2 rating on a 1 to 5 scale. That’s obviously not something I prefer, but there are a lot of people out there who prefer more subtle vibrations.

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable has 3 speeds and 3 patterns. Just between you and me, I don’t know a single person who likes vibration patterns, but I imagine there must be some data out there that says otherwise since companies keep adding that as a feature, but I digress. The vibrations themselves have a little bit of a rumble at the lowest speed but get progressively buzzy on the middle and top speed.

Material & Cleaning:

The head of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is a slightly more matte silicone than what’s on the rest of the toy, and while the top of the head is smooth, the sides have ridges. While it’s likely intended for decorative purposes, the ridges just manage to catch all sorts of lube and whatnot and make the toy harder to clean. That being said, silicone is relatively easy to clean, just remember that this toy isn’t waterproof (although it is splashproof) . To clean it, I carefully use soap and water by just wetting and washing the head of the toy, or I use cloth sprayed with rubbing alcohol to wipe it down.

I’ve been using rubbing alcohol to clean my toys for months and have contacted a handful of companies that make silicone toys to make sure this is safe for silicone toys. Everyone I spoke with has said they don’t think it would harm the silicone, but since I don’t know what the coating is on the ABS plastic parts the Mystic Wand Rechargeable, I’m not sure if the alcohol is what caused the finish to rub off in that one area (see Strike 2 below).

My Problems With This Toy:

Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable - Close up of product defects - Hedonish.com

Here’s what I really didn’t like about the Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable—it’s some of the worst craftsmanship I’ve ever seen on a toy. I say this after it having three major issues, and I only used it enough to test it, which is just sad considering I’ve had the same Magic Wand Original for 7 years without issues (and I have used it A LOT) and the Magic Wand is a cheaper toy.

• Strike 1:

As soon as I took it out of the box, before I’d ever used it, some of the silicone had come unglued and was peeling up in certain areas. The design of the toy is an ABS plastic body that has a grove that a thin layer of silicone is glued onto in the bottom/back of the toy and on the front controls. It’s possible that’s just a manufacturing defect—I spoke to another blogger who also reviewed this toy and didn’t see the same issue—so I’m inclined to give Vibratex the benefit of the doubt. I also stopped by a local sex toy store recently and their Mystic Wand didn’t have any unglued bits either, so mine might have been an anomaly.

• Strike 2:

After the 2nd or 3rd time I used this toy, I cleaned it off only to realize that the coating on the ABS plastic was also starting to come off. It’s on the handle, so it’s not a safety issue, but for a $100 toy that’s ridiculous. It’s also worth noting that during the sex shop visit to a local sex shop I mentioned above, I saw this same issue with another Vibratex vibrator, although it wasn’t the Mystic Wand Rechargeable.

• Strike 3:

Remember how I mentioned, about 2 paragraphs ago, how I felt like I was going to break the toy every time I plugged it in? Funny story: I unplugged it and plugged it back in while writing this review, and something is broken now. It took me another 15 minutes of fiddling around with it to find a position where it would continue charging… but if I touch it the purple charging indicator shuts off. I suspect it’s the silver AC adapter on the cord, but it’s difficult to tell what part is actually broken.

vibratex_mysticwandrechargeable_4My Experience:

The sheer excitement I feel at receiving a new toy to test is that of a child on Christmas morning. Every. Single. Time. It brightens my mood, no matter what crap life flung at me all day. The Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable was no different. I really want to love every toy I agree to review (trust me, it’s far more fun to review that way). Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. I immediately carefully unboxed my new toy, plugged it in and turned it on, looked at my partner, sighed deeply, and said, “Yeah… this isn’t going to do anything for me.”

I’m not shy about the fact that my favorite vibrators also happen to be the strongest I know of. It’s a high bar and sometimes I feel it’s futile for me to even bother to test other vibrators when I know I’ll prefer my Doxy Die Cast or my Magic Wand Original. That said, with enough patience I can still get off with most rumbly “medium-strength” vibrators too—I’m just a huge fan of the easier orgasms that really strong vibrators give me (I tend to use vibrators frequently during partnered sex and I prefer to focus on my partner rather than focusing on how annoyed I am that the vibrator I’m using isn’t quite as strong as I’d like it to be). All that aside, the Vibratex Mystic Wand, in my opinion, qualifies as a weak to medium strength vibrator, and wasn’t strong enough to get me off. I’m not alone either, I loaned it to a friend who used it for about two minutes before deciding it was too weak for her too, and got her Womanizer instead.

Still, I know that some people really enjoy mild vibrations, and this would be a great option for those people… if it weren’t for all the craftsmanship issues.

The Verdict:

I don’t feel like this is a toy that will work for a wide range of people. The vibrations are too weak and too buzzy to satisfy most, and I’ve never been quite so disappointed in the construction quality of a toy—especially at this price point of around $100. The gist: I don’t recommend buying the Vibratex Mystic Wand Rechargeable. If you still want to try it for yourself, you can pick up the Mystic Wand and tons of other great toys at one of my favorite sex toy shops!

Since I don’t recommend buying this toy, here are a few alternatives:

If you’re looking for an ergonomic, very lightweight, rechargeable vibrator that gives off more gentle vibrations, I’d recommend spending a bit more money and going for the Tantus Rumble instead—it’s better quality and you can remove/switch out the head of the Rumble for easier cleaning.

And, if what you were looking for was a body-safe travel-friendly wand that gives off medium to very strong vibrations, is easy to clean, and is compact, I highly recommend buying the Palm Power Recharge as an awesome alternative (bonus: it’s even cheaper than the Mystic Wand Rechargeable).

  2. I thought I was the only one who didn’t care for this toy. When ever I hear about the original Vibratex Mystic Wand, all I hear is positive reviews, talking about how powerful it is, just to try this one and be very disappointed with how weak the vibrations are. I also had issues with the silicone peeling away from the adhesive where the on/off button is located right out the box. Not a good look for a toy that costs around 100 bucks.

Ugh, the peeling silicone thing is awful. $100 is a crapton of money, and for that much, they should be better.

I’m pro-curved handle though, as one of the short-armed sex toy users. And plug-and-play is indeed awesome. Still, though, that’s terrible craftsmanship for that much money. Grrr.

Oh no, I wish I would have read your take on this before buying it yesterday. Just my luck a day late and a dollar short.

    • Well if you like less intense vibrations you might like it! And if you have any issues with the craftsmanship, I checked and there’s a 1 year warranty!

I can hope, but typically when it’s a broad area type of vibrator I prefer powerful vibrations.
